MET4-MET28-MET31 sulfur metabolism transcription factor complex Overview

GO Annotations consist of four mandatory components: a gene product, a term from one of the three Gene Ontology (GO) controlled vocabularies (Molecular Function, Biological Process, and Cellular Component), a reference, and an evidence code.

Summary
Transcription factor complex regulating sulfur metabolism. MET4 lacks DNA-binding ability and relies on interactions with MET31 and MET32 (Q03081), paralogous proteins that bind the same cis-regulatory element, to activate its targets. MET31 and MET32 are C2H2 zinc finger-containing proteins that act solely as adaptors for recruiting MET4 to promoters, binding to sites with a TGTGGC core. MET28 acts to stabilise the complex.
GO Slim Terms

The yeast GO Slim terms are higher level terms that best represent the major S. cerevisiae biological processes, functions, and cellular components. The GO Slim terms listed here are the broader parent terms for the specific terms to which this gene product is annotated, and thus represent the more general processes, functions, and components in which it is involved.
