PCL5-PHO85 kinase complex Overview

GO Annotations consist of four mandatory components: a gene product, a term from one of the three Gene Ontology (GO) controlled vocabularies (Molecular Function, Biological Process, and Cellular Component), a reference, and an evidence code.

Summary
Cyclin-dependent protein kinase that positively controls degradation of transcription factor GCN4 (P03069) under favorable growth conditions. GCN4 is a master transcriptional regulator of amino acid and vitamin biosynthetic enzymes, whose expression is upregulated in response to amino acid starvation Phosphorylation of GCN4 is required for its degradation by the E3 ubiquitin ligase complex SCF-Cdc4 (CPX-3234). Amino acid starvation reduces PCL5-PHO85-associated GCN4 kinase activity and leads to stabilization of GCN4
GO Slim Terms

The yeast GO Slim terms are higher level terms that best represent the major S. cerevisiae biological processes, functions, and cellular components. The GO Slim terms listed here are the broader parent terms for the specific terms to which this gene product is annotated, and thus represent the more general processes, functions, and components in which it is involved.
